In this blog we are going to talk about one of the best experiences I ever had.
I’m going to make an introduction and the creation of this sport (yes, I consider this as a sport), what are the best events and the influences that have in people. This is more than jump, have a big smile and scream out loud.

Cheerleading History

This sport has a long history being one of the most important activities around the world. This activity started in the 18^th century. Most of the people related this sport with women and short skirts. However, in the 18^th only men were permitted to participate. The female participation started on 1923.

In 1948, one of the most important cheerleading association was formed the NCA (National Cheerleaders Association). 

They were in charge to create clinic or training camps to cheerleaders and starting the first rules for this sport. 

After 1950 the people considered the cheerleading as a professional activity. Nowadays, there are many associations and worldwide competitions every year.

Cheerleading in Colombia

This sport has less than 30 years in Colombia but is famous than practice soccer or basketball. In this moment, it is an important activity practiced in schools to keep the students active and help them to be responsible and disciplined. 

5 years ago was founded “Federación Colombiana de porrismo” that support all the teams in the country. Also, we have the Colombian’s team who represent the country in the worldwide competitions.

One of the most important competitions are:

-Capital Cheer.

-Campeonato Distrital De Porrismo

Cheerleading uniforms through the history

The interesting part of cheerleading is how the people identify the uniforms. However, this ones are changing through all times. 

At the beginning this uniforms were less flashy. Until, the cheerleading competitions started to be broadcasted as soon as the people was interested to see it. 

The outfit changed and came up with bright colors, make-up, big bows and including new accessories to identify the teams as a backpacks, training outfit and T-shirts.
